Intel and Arizona State University will host the seventh International Workshop on Video Processing and Quality Metrics (VPQM) for consumer electronics January 30–February 1, 2013. Researchers and developers from industry and academia will gather at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort to discuss a range of topics from video processing technologies, theories and methods, to applications of quality metrics in consumer video.
The workshop was founded in 2005 by ECEE professor Lina Karam together with Jorge Caviedes from Intel, and Sanjit Mitra, professor at University of California, Santa Barbara, and more recently at the University of Southern California. Karam and Caviedes are organizing the VPQM 2013 workshop.
“The VPQM was the first international workshop in the area of visual quality assessment and quality metrics and perceptual-based visual processing,” explains Karam, “It has led the way to other workshops and special conference sessions, and to research growth in these areas.”
The workshop will include oral presentations and prominent keynote speakers. An emphasis will be placed on objective image and video quality metrics for mobile platforms, product development, standardizations for mobile application and applications to video transmission, adaptive image processing and 3-D video.
