Stephen Goodnick is the deputy director of the ASU LightWorks initiative. He recently served as the associate vice president for research from 2006-2008, and prior to that as deputy dean of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. He came to ASU in fall 1996 as a department chair. Prior to that, he was a professor of electrical and computer engineering at Oregon State University. He has also been a visiting scientist at the Solar Energy Research Institute and Sandia National Laboratories and a visiting faculty member at the Walter Schottky Institute, Munich, Germany, the University of Modena, Italy, the University of Notre Dame, and Osaka University, Japan. He is a past president of the board of governors of the IEEE Eta Kappa Nu engineering honor society and past president of the IEEE Nanotechnology Council. He served as president (2003-2004) of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Heads Association (ECEDHA) and as program chair of the Ninth IEEE Conference on Nanotechnology in 2009. Goodnick has published over 200 refereed journal articles, books and book chapters.
