Three very special events are planned for our graduates on May 3. We look forward to celebrating their achievements in a festive and safe manner.

Fulton Schools of Engineering Convocation

8:30 a.m. | Online

Avatars appear virtually on the lawn of Old Main

This spring the Fulton Schools Convocation includes a “virtual pre-party!”
We are including a real-time, live social event at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 3.

The high-spirited Convocation featuring the conferral of degrees, student representatives and a welcome message from the Engineering Alumni Chapter will be available any time after the premiere, allowing you to watch or re-watch at your leisure. 

ECEE Hybrid PhD Celebration

10:30 a.m. | Neeb Hall and online

In-person graduates and their advisors will have the opportunity to come on stage and speak about their experience. They will also have the option of being hooded. A professional photographer will be on hand to capture the moment.

Graduates and advisors attending virtually will be invited to speak and it will be streamed in the venue.

Family members are invited to watch the festivities online.

ECEE Undergraduate and Master’s graduation celebration

Noon – 5 p.m. | Neeb Hall

Pre-registered students can come to campus at their designated time slot on May 3rd.  They will walk across the stage, receive their diploma cover and take that triumphant picture they’ve worked so hard to get. Faculty and staff will be on hand to celebrate with them.

Family members are invited to watch the festivities online.

Volunteers needed

7 a.m. – 6 p.m.  | Neeb Hall

We need you!

Volunteer to help the in-person celebrations go off without a hitch. This will be a socially distanced event and the room will have no more than 50 people in it at a time. Only fully vaccinated faculty, staff and students may volunteer in person. We will need assistance from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., Please register to help us celebrate our students!

Frequently asked questions

Can my family and friends attend this event?
Your family and friends can watch this remotely via live stream.  Only the graduates may attend in person.

Are masks required?
Yes, face coverings are required except during professional photos.

Am I required to wear a cap and gown?
Regalia is encouraged but not required. A few robes will be available and will be sanitized between users. If regalia is not an option, please come in business/business casual attire. 

What if I don’t have time to watch the Ira A Fulton Schools of Engineering Convocation before coming to Neeb Hall?
In addition to our celebration starting at noon, the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering Convocation Ceremony will also be shown in Neeb Hall from 9 to 10:20 a.m. You are welcome to join us. Seating will be limited and COVID-19 protocols will be followed. 

Will safety precautions be taken due to Covid?
Yes. This is a socially distant event.  Seating will be limited and safety precautions will be taken.

PhD event FAQs

Will I get to see my faculty advisor?
Yes. This event is designed to mark your momentous milestone by giving you and your advisors the opportunity to speak about your experiences, offer words of encouragement and give thanks to those who stood by you along the way. Faculty advisors are invited to attend in person, but could attend remotely.

Can I be hooded?
If attending in person you will have the option to be hooded on stage by your advisor or senior faculty member and a professional photographer will be on hand to capture the moment. 

Is there a deadline to register?
Yes. Please register by Friday, April 30 at noon.

What if I don’t have time to watch the Ira A Fulton Schools of Engineering Convocation before coming to Neeb Hall?
In addition to our celebration starting at noon, the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering Convocation Ceremony will also be shown in Neeb Hall from 9 to 10:20 a.m. You are welcome to join us. Seating will be limited and COVID-19 protocols will be followed.
