Ethan Burca

Ethan Burca began studying electrical engineering at Arizona State University in fall of 2024. He initially came into the degree with little idea of what is available, but he knew that his studies in robotics and sustainability were fascinating enough to pursue it further. He has since found that electrical engineering at ASU is a broad, rewarding field with limitless options. He loves ASU for its versatility and looks forward to learning more about all there is to electrical engineering and sharing it with new students.
Although newer to the program, Ethan has found that this degree combines many of his passions from high school, including math and the electronics we use in our everyday lives. He hopes to see his skills be put to good use with tangible results in the future.
Outside of electrical engineering, he is currently involved in a host of clubs and organizations. He enjoys performing with the Sun Devil Marching Band as a clarinet player, where he has been fortunate enough to travel to Texas and Georgia to support ASU’s football team. He also performs with CGCC’s Clarinet Choir, where he is the bass clarinet section leader. Ethan is further involved in Sun Devil Motorsports’ brakes team, and participates in EPICS through the Indonesia Renewable Energy project.
He is excited to continue exploring his degree and to support his fellow students along the way. He hopes to delve deeper into either signal processing or energy production, and he plans on applying for an accelerated masters at ASU later in his academic career.
Ethan’s advice for students:
“Don’t be so hard on yourself! This degree can be challenging at times, but there are so many ways to get help that you should never suffer alone. Do what you want to do; don’t feel pressured to join things that you’re not ready for, but always be willing to put yourself out there. The best way to meet people and truly thrive is to join organizations that speak to you and take classes that interest you. Always know that life comes in waves. Sometimes, you’re ready to handle five things at once, and sometimes a day comes where you just have to look after yourself.”
