Maverick Clar

Born and raised in Arizona, Maverick started his journey of electrical engineering in the fall 2025 semester. He developed his interest in STEM at a young age, largely inspired by his father and his natural curiosity about how things work.

He chose electrical engineering because of his fascination with electronics, power systems and the field’s broad range of applications. Arizona State University was his perfect fit, a strong and incredible engineering program that allowed him to thrive in school and stay close to the Arizona outdoors he loves.

Outside the classroom, Maverick is actively involved in the Engineering Projects in Community Service program, or EPICS, where he has been collaborating with a local animal sanctuary to design and build storm-resistant dog houses from scrap materials. He also conducts research at the Rolston Lab on lithium-Ion and sodium-Ion technologies in hopes of advancing future power systems.

Maverick’s advice for students:

“Take full advantage of the vast resources ASU has to offer! You’ll meet so many people and end up in places you would have never imagined. Most importantly, never forget to step outside the engineering bubble every so often and spend time doing the things you truly enjoy.”
